In Fingerlicking, Langford explores the practice of preserving and harnessing pleasure. Catching an ice cream drip before it reaches the wrist. Licking the last cookie crumbs from the fingers. These familiar intimacies carry a deeper inquiry into how quickly just one more can become a demand.

Each finger stroke holds a pleasure the artist wanted to keep. Each tally mark registers a quiet win against the part of him that couldn’t wait. Together, they trace a developing capacity to let pleasure linger—to receive an experience fully without immediately reaching for another.

This inquiry extends into love, where new experiences accumulate, each offering a sweetness of its own. Langford considers what it takes to welcome them without turning their memory into a ledger. Keeping count becomes a practice he can eventually release.

The work rests at that threshold: trusting that sweetness will return, and choosing to lose count once and for all.
